Gouverneto Monastery & Katholikon
Gouverneto monastery is the first monastery we will visit. It is dedicated to our Lady of the Angels and it is the oldest monastery in Akrotiri. It is estimated that it began to be built in 1537 by monks who wanted to protect themselves from pirates’ attacks, this is why it is built like a fortress.
